Sterilization Policy
All instruments and handpieces in the office are steam-heat sterilized after each patient. This safe and effective technique that is approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Dental Association and is also used in hospital operating rooms across the country. The sterilization equipment is not housed in the exam room, but if you'd like to see how and where it's done, just ask our dental staff to show you. Other supplies used during your treatment are made of plastic or paper and are used only once then disposed of.
Before you enter the examining room, all surfaces, such as dental chair, dental light, drawer handles and countertops have been cleaned and decontaminated. Sharp items and anything contaminated with blood or saliva are disposed of in special containers. And our dental team always sanitizes their hands before seeing a new patient. Plus, for your protection and ours, we always wear tear-resistant latex gloves and other appropriate protective gear.
